Delicious beef recipe inspired by Chinese flavours. Simple recipe which involves just chucking all the ingredients in the slow cooker.

I served mine up in bau buns and crispy kale, which I’ve included as a bonus recipe. I added the peppers about an hour before serving however you can chunk them in at the start they will just loose some crunch.

Ingredients

Serves 2

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp ginger paste

  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice

  • 1/2 beef stock cube

  • 50ml water

  • 500g stewing beef, chopped into chunks

  • 1 green pepper, sliced

For crispy kale

  • 350g kale

  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil

  • Pinch of Salt

Directions

  1. Put all items in the slow cooker, except the peppers, and mix well

  2. Cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low, add the peppers about an hour before serving

  3. For crispy kale, pre heat the oven to 200 / 180 fan. Put the kale on a tray, drizzle over the oil and salt and mix a little. Cook for 10-15 minutes (until it starts to look ‘crispy’)
